The Washington Huskies and the Texas Longhorns meet in the Alamo Bowl in college football action from the Alamodome.
The Washington Huskies come into this game on behalf of the Pac-12 after finishing with a solid 10-2 mark in the regular season. Michael Penix Jr. has thrown for 4,354 yards, 29 touchdowns and 7 interceptions on 66% passing while Wayne Taulapapa has a team-high 779 rushing yards with 10 TDs and Cameron Davis has a team-high 13 rushing touchdowns. Rome Odunze has 70 grabs for a team-high 1,088 yards and 7 touchdowns while Jalen McMillan has 71 grabs for 1,040 yards with 8 scores and Ja’Lynn Polk also has 649 receiving yards and 6 TDs as well this season. On defense, Alex Cook has a team-high 77 total tackles including 54 solo tackles while Jeremiah Martin has a team-high 8.5 sacks and Bralen Trice is right behind with 8 sacks. Washington’s defense as a whole has combined for 35 sacks and 7 interceptions so far this season.
The Texas Longhorns will try to finish strong on behalf of the Big 12 after going 8-4 in the regular season. Quinn Ewers has thrown for 1,808 yards, 14 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 56.6% passing. Bijan Robinson leads Texas in rushing with 1,580 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Xavier Worthy has 53 catches for 676 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns while Ja’Tavion Sanders has 49 grabs for 577 receiving yards and 5 TDs as well this season. Jordan Whittington also has 608 receiving yards as well on the year. On defense, Jaylan Ford has a team-high 109 total tackles including 57 solo tackles while Texas’ defense as a whole has 27 sacks this season.
Washington is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS win while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 neutral site games. Texas is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 bowl games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against the Pac-12 while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 bowl games.
This is an interesting matchup as Texas really came on strong over the course of the season especially later on in the year. However, I haven’t been impressed with Quinn Ewers at QB for the Longhorns and Hudson Card’s gone into the transfer portal. Also Bijan Robinson may have himself a game, but the Huskies’ rush defense is the best facet of the unit as a whole. Michael Penix Jr. isn’t opting out as he has yet to play in a bowl game and I think he uses that as motivation to lead this Huskies team to a potential win here. I’ll take the points to be safe with Washington though.
