West Indies vs Pakistan
July 18, 2021 9:30 am EDT

Pakistan women’s tour of the West Indies concludes on Sunday July 18th, 2021 at 10:00AM EST with the fifth and final match of the ODI series being played at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

The Pakistan women have avoided the series sweep with a clutch performance in the fourth match, winning the game by 4 wickets. West Indies women would feel they have let a great opportunity slip and will surely go back to the drawing board in an attempt to get back to winning ways. Both teams will be ready and rearing to go, who will get the win here in the final match of the series?

The Windies women were asked to bat first and lost 2 wickets rather quickly, one of them being Hayley Matthews who had just scored a brilliant century in the game prior. Those 2 wickets saw Kyshona Knight (88) and captain Stafanie Taylor (49) join forces to put together a breathtaking partnership worth 142 in just over 32 overs. That partnership allowed the West Indian women to get to a respectable 210. On the bowling front, Shakera Selman and Hayley Matthews took 2 wickets each while Anisa Mohammed along with Chinelle Henry both took 1 wicket. Those wickets were taken far and few between with no real intensity to cause the opposition any threat. West Indies women will not let this loss deter them and on Sunday they will seek to reassert their dominance.

A strong showing by the women from Pakistan in all three departments ensured them of their first win on this tour. Fatima Sana and Nashra Sandhu were absolutely sensational taking 4 wickets each, they provided the impetus that was lacking in previous matches. After the bowling unit did their job beautifully, it was left to the batswomen to put their hand up and be accountable. They did exactly that with Omaima Sohail alongside Sidra Ameen scoring 61 and 41 respectively, cameos from five of their teammates helped seal what turned out to be a comfortable run chase. Will they be able to make it two in two or will they revert to their customary on this tour?

It is the final match in this series for these ladies but it will indeed have the same intensity as the case with the games that were played prior. Pakistan with the current momentum but West Indies still have the psychological advantage going into Sunday’s game and that advantage is why they will win the game and end the series 4-1. The West Indies have shown that they are the deeper team, and are playing extremely well as a unit. Pakistan will put up a fight here, but ultimately will go down here, concluding a poor series for them.
