Trinbago Knight Riders vs St Lucia Kings
August 31, 2021 10:00 am EDT

The Caribbean Premier League resumes tomorrow at 10:00am EST August 31st, 2021 at Warner Park, Basseterre in St. Kitts with the St Lucia Kings taking on the Trinbago Knight Riders.

The St. Lucia Kings were finally able to get a win under their belt in their last match against the same opponents (Trinbago Knight Riders) winning by only 5 runs. Roston Chase has been their star player so far, producing with both bat and ball, Andre Fletcher and Rahkeem Cornwall have provided the impetus at the top of the order but they are aware that more is expected of them in order to create a solid base for an explosive finish to the innings. Captain Faf du Plessis has yet to produce with the bat but he will surely feel his time is coming where he can contribute for his team. The bowling department have not really threatened their opponents but have been quite economical, specifically in the last encounter which allowed them to seal the win. Tomorrow they will attempt to make it two in two and put the Trinbago Knight Riders further on the back foot but the question is can they replicate yesterday’s performance?

Trinbago Knight Riders won last year’s tournament without losing a single game but now find themselves with one win and two losses. Captain Kieron Pollard will look in the dressing room and believe that this should not be the case with his wealth of talent and experience but the better team on the day will always come out on top. From a batting perspective, you simply cannot lose only 3 wickets in a run chase going for a score of 158 and lose, this however was the case for the Knight Riders with Lendl Simmons and Colin Munro soaking up a lot of balls. Tim Seifert came in and scored a blistering 40 off just 16 deliveries but his efforts were just a little late to the party. From a bowling standpoint, Ravi Rampaul continues to impress, taking 3 wickets in yesterday’s game with Isuru Udana unable to assist this time around with 0 wickets and an economy rate above 11.

The Trinbago Knight Riders will shake yesterday’s game off and re-apply themselves with a rejuvenated hunger for their next win. All to play for tomorrow, St. Lucia Kings are currently at the bottom of the table but a win will place them in 2nd place for the time being while a win for Trinbago Knight Riders will do the same so who will be triumphant? I expect Trinbago Knight Riders to bounce back and return to winning ways tomorrow but it will be a battle in the middle. They are the better all-around team and will certainly be eager to exact revenge on the St. Lucia team that got the better of them last time around.
