International Cricket : England vs India 3/04/2021 Cricket Prediction

England face India in the fourth and final test match in their series. The match is scheduled to be played on Thursday March 4th, 2021 at 12:00am EST, and it will be played at the Narendra Modi Statium in Motera. India currently lead the series 2-1, can they wrap it up with a win or draw here? Or can England salvage the series with a win here?

England were well and truly embarrassed by their historic Second Test loss, inside of two days. They will be out for revenge and you can expect that changes will be made. Other than Joe Root and Zack Crawley with the bat and Jake Leach with the ball have really been the only players to perform in the last two tests and they will need huge improvements from the rest of their squad if they are to avoid a third huge loss in a row. The wicket here is traditionally a bowler friendly one, so Jofra Archer and James Anderson will have to step up, and if selected Dom Bess will be an important spin option. However, their main struggles have come with the bat. Outside or Root and Crawley no-one has stepped up and they will need Johnny Bairstow and Ben Stokes to find form and quickly. There is no doubt in my mind that they will deliver a much improved performance here, but will it be enough? After a 317 run loss in the Second Test and losing by 10 wickets in the Third, a slight improvement just won’t do. 

India has been in superb form over the past two test matches and their confidence will be sky high. I would not expect them to make any changes as this is a must-win match for them, as that will secure them a spot in the World Test Championship Final. As always, they will be led by Ashwin and Axel Patel who were outstanding in the Third Test. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will lead the way with the bat and India have really assembled a deep and formidable team, especially at home. As mentioned, the wicket should favor the bowlers which seemingly will give them an advantage here. 

I expect this match to be a much closer one than the last, with England smarting from that defeat and desperate to redeem themselves. However, there is no doubt that their confidence has taken a huge hit and it will not be easy to shrug that off. India are in superb form and I see them being too much for England to handle. A result is to be expected as both teams are gunning for that, England hoping to avoid a series loss and India aiming for the World Test Championship Final. India to win
