Australia face New Zealand in the fourth match of their T20 Series. The match is scheduled to be played on Friday March 5th, 2021 at 2:00am EST, in Wellington, New Zealand. After Australia’s comprehensive win in the Third T20, the series is interestingly poised at 2-1 to New Zealand. Can the hosts win to wrap up the series? Or will Australia level it at 2-2?

Australia put in a much improved performance in the last match to come away with their first victory in the series, knowing it was a must-win match. A tremendous all around performance allowed them to win by 64 runs and they will be looking to level the series at 2-2 and force a decider. They posted a huge total of 208/4 in their 20 overs, largely in part to the big hitting of Glenn Maxwell who made a tremendous 70 in 31 balls, and captain Aaron finally finding some form with the bat and making 69. With the ball, Man of the Match Ashton Agar was outstanding, capturing an impressive 6-30 in his four overs. While they are still behind in the series, Australia’s relatively young team will have gained a lot of confidence from this victory and will look to take this momentum into the fourth T20 in an attempt to even the series. If the senior players continue to lead the way with their experience, Australia have a great chance here.

After winning the first two matches, New Zealand will have been very disappointed to lose the third in the manner that they did. None of the bowlers performed well and captain Kane Williamson will be counting on them to put in a much better performance here if they are to claim the series win. Key bowlers Tim Southee and Trent Boult were quite expensive and James Neesham was awful, going for 60 runs in his four overs. They will have to be much improved to contain Australia’s dynamic batting attack. In terms of their batsmen, only Martin Guptil and Devon Conway made any inroads, so this is a key area that will also have to improve. Simply put, New Zealand will have to be much better overall to win here. Despite the bad match however, they still enter this match as the slight favorites

I am backing New Zealand to turn things around and wrap the series up 3-1 here. While Australia was very impressive in limiting them in the previous match, they are simply too good and too experienced to go through a prolonged slump here. Look for their veterans to lead by example and come away with a tight victory here. New Zealand to win.
