International Cricket: West Indies vs. Pakistan 7/31/21 T20 Cricket Prediction

West Indies vs Pakistan
July 31, 2021 11:00 am EDT

Pakistan’s tour of the West Indies resumes tomorrow, Saturday July 31st, 2021 at 11:00am EST with the first T20I match in the 4-match series being played at Providence in Guyana.

On Wednesday, the two teams met for the first time in the series but rain prevented the game for having its full quota of overs and was reduced to 9 a side. Pakistan won the toss and asked West Indies to take first knock to which they amassed 85 for 5 before rain intervened yet again during the short break between innings to end the contest completely. What was once a 5-match series that then turned into 4 will now be decided in 3, let’s hope they are no further interruptions.

West Indies had a chance to increase their run of form in the T20 format and were on their way despite a few hiccups. Captain Kieron Pollard understands the bower his batsmen possess but will be urging his men to rotate the strike and play less irrational and high-risk shots, if they are able to combine rotation with power, they will be a stronger, more feared side not just in this series but in the T20 World Cup later this year. The Windies have a deep bowling unit, their ability to swap bowlers in the lineup and still carry a strong threat speaks volumes. Dwayne Bravo is the most senior bowler but he has been shepherding Obed McCoy with similar bowling techniques that have left many opponents clueless thus making them a dynamic duo currently. Can this West Indies side tighten their straps and get it right before the World Cup or will they be a great time that once was?

Pakistan had West Indies on the ropes at certain stages of the 9 over innings but in the end, they would’ve faced a challenging total if not for the weather. The bowling squad have been doing the job for most of the series they have been playing of late but the batting has been very inconsistent and this is a worry for them. Pakistan is capable have causing problems for any title contender in the upcoming blockbuster World Cup but they have to turn the right switches to shed light on their tourney. Many is expected of Babar Azam not only as the leader of the side but the key cog in Pakistan’s wheel from a batting perspective while Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi lead a bowling unit that has been stronger in recent times. If Pakistan are to cause a threat in the World Cup, they have to be consistent in this series.

A now basically 3-match series that many wish would still have been 5 resumes tomorrow and it will be a keenly contested battle. West Indies have the upper hand with their well-oiled side but Pakistan are known to cause upsets with their grit and energetic cricket style. I expect West Indies to win this game with ease due to the inconsistency of the Pakistani players.
