International Cricket : West Indies vs Sri Lanka 3/07/2021 Cricket Prediction

The West Indies face Sri Lanka in the deciding third match of their T20 Series. The match is scheduled to be played on Sunday March 7th, 2021 at 6:00pm EST. The venue will again be the Coolidge Ground in Antigua and good weather is expected. Can West Indies win the series at home or will Sri Lanka spoil the party and cause the upset? 

Despite being ranked lower (10) than their opponents, the West Indies were considered the favorites to win this series. They have selected their strongest team in quite some time and have a great blend of youth and experience. The West Indian team is full of T20 global superstars such as Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard, and is littered with match winners both on the batting and bowling side. After a relatively comfortable win in the first match the expectation was that they would wrap the series up in the second however they were thoroughly outplayed by Sri Lanka and will be looking to brush that off quickly before the decider. Changes are likely to be made here with Fabian Allen and Kevin Sinclair potentially on the chopping block with Rovman Powell a candidate to step into the 11 to shore up the battling lineup that is struggling against the Sri Lankan spinners. 

Sri Lanka was very impressive during their win in the second T20 International, displaying tremendous fighting spirit to recover from their loss in the opening match. Their batsmen really led the way here, with the spinners continuing their dominance from the first match. “Spin Twins” Wanindu Hasaranga and Akila Dananajiya have wreaked havoc on the West Indian batsmen and they will be key in this third match if they are to win the series. I expect them to name an unchanged squad as they try to keep the momentum in their favor. 

This match is setting up to be a fascinating clash and is sure to be exciting. The West Indies have some of the most explosive batsmen in world cricket and it will be an interesting battle between them and the Sri Lankan spinners. I am expecting  very close match with the West Indies coming out on top. While they were disappointing in the previous match, they have star batsmen Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran who are simply too talented to continue failing and they should figure it out. West Indies to win here and take the series 2-1.
