This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 3M Open. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 3M Open will be played.
The 2025 3M Open will be played at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. TPC Twin Cities is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,431 yards.
*TPC Twin Cities has hosted the 3M Open since the event’s inception in 2019.
Jhonattan Vegas won the 2024 3M Open with a cumulative four round score of 17 under par.
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.

Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 3M Open.
Draftkings First Round Picks
Kurt Kitayama $8,500
Kurt Kitayama arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of two consecutive top 14 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fifth-place result at the 2025 John Deere Classic three weeks ago.
Due to Kurt Kitayama’s quality finish at the 2025 John Deere Classic, I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to determine how Kitayama fared relative to the field.
Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 John Deere Classic, in relation to the field, Kurt Kitayama ranked second in driving distance (332.7), 23rd in total birdies made (20) and 12th in bogey avoidance (6).
It is noteworthy that Kurt Kitayama has posted a quality result at TPC Twin Cities in the past. Kitayama finished sixth at the 2024 3M Open.
Emiliano Grillo $8,400
Emiliani Grillo has amassed five top 24 finishes in his last eight events played on the PGA Tour, including a 16th place result at the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge in May.
Grillo also has an exceptional record when he plays at TPC Twin Cities. Since 2020, Grillo has played this week’s PGA Tour event five times. In those five tournaments just noted, Grillo accumulated three top ten finishes, including a second-place result at the 2022 3M Open.
Michael Thorbjornsen $8,800
Two weeks ago, Michael Thorbjornsen fired a final round 68 at the 2025 ISCO Championship en route to an eventual 14th place result.
Andrew Putnam $7,200
Andrew Putnam has compiled three top 11 finishes in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, including a sixth-place result at the 2025 RBC Canadian Open last month.
Since 2022, Andrew Putnam has played the 3M Open two times. In those two tournaments just mentioned, Putnam tallied two top 19 finishes, including an 11th place result at the 2024 3M Open.
