October 23, 2025 8:00 am EDT
This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings first round picks for this week’s event let’s review where the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship will be played.
Where will the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship be played?
The 2025 Bank of Utah Championship will be played at the Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,371 yards.
Matt McCarty won the 2024 Bank of Utah Championship with a cumulative four round score of 23 under par.
Will the Bank of Utah Championship have a traditional cut after two rounds?
The 2025 Bank of Utah Championship will have a field of 132 competitors to start the tournament on Thursday. This event will have a cut after the completion of the first two rounds. The top 65 golfers and ties will make the cut.
*I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship.
Draftkings First Round Picks
Alex Noren $10,400
Alex Noren has compiled four top seven finishes in his last six events played (PGA and DP World Tours combined), including two wins (2025 Betfred British Masters: 2025 BMW PGA Championship).
Due to Alex Noren’s quality win at the 2025 BMW PGA Championship, I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to determine how Noren fared relative to the field.
Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 BMW PGA Championship, in relation to the field, Alex Noren ranked 15th in strokes gained off the tee (0.80), second in GIR (greens in regulation-77.78%), third in strokes gained putting (2.22), second in par four scoring average (3.85) and third in bogey avoidance (5).
Christiaan Bezuidenhout $9,000
The talented South African arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of two consecutive top ten finishes on the PGA Tour, including a sixth place result at the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship earlier this month.
Rico Hoey $9,300
Rico Hoey has amassed four top 11 finishes in his last eight events played on the PGA Tour, including a fourth place result at the 2025 Baycurrent Classic earlier this month. Additionally, Hoey finished 21st at the 2024 Bank of Utah Championship.
Alex Smalley $8,500
Two weeks ago, Alex Smalley fired a second round 65 at the 2025 Baycurrent Classic en route to an eventual fourth place finish.
Takumi Kanaya $7,400
Takumi Kanaya arrives at this week’s event on the heels of four consecutive top 23 finishes (PGA and Japan Tours combined), including a win at the 2025 Ana Open four weeks ago.
Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship (Draftkings price noted): Matt McCarty $9,500: Max McGreevy $7,100: Mac Meissner $8,000: Dylan Wu $7,000.
