2025 Charles Schwab Challenge
May 22, 2025 8:00 am EDT
This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge will be played.
The 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge will be played at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The golf course is a par 70 that measures 7,289 yards.
*Davis Riley won the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge with a four round cumulative score of 14 under par.
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Draftkings First Round Picks
Aaron Rai $9,200
Since the beginning of February, Aaron Rai has played nine tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those nine events just noted, Rai amassed six top 27 finishes, including an 11th place result at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
Aaron Rai certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Let me be more specific. Rai is currently ranked 16th in GIR (greens in regulation-69.57%), 20th in strokes gained approach (0.513), first in driving accuracy (73.13%), 21st in strokes gained tee to green (0.831) and sixth in par four scoring average (3.95) on the PGA Tour.
It is noteworthy that Aaron Rai has played well at the Colonial Country Club previously. Rai finished 12th at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge.
Brian Harman $8,700
The 2023 Open Championship winner has tallied two top three finishes in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, including a win at the 2025 Valero Texas Open last month.
Ben Griffin $8,600
Last week, Ben Griffin fired a final round 69 at the 2025 PGA Championship en route to an eventual eighth place finish. With that said, I fully expect Griffin to continue his outstanding play at this week’s 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge.
J.J. Spaun $8,500
J.J. Spaun has compiled three top 17 finishes in his last eight events played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive second place result at the 2025 Players Championship in March.
Spaun is currently ranked 16th in overall strokes gained (1.003), fourth in strokes gained approach (0.827), 17th in strokes gained tee to green (0.916) and 13th in proximity to the hole (35’7) on the PGA Tour.
Mark Hubbard $6,700
Mark Hubbard arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of three consecutive top 12 finishes, including a fifth-place result at the 2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson earlier this month.
Additionally, Hubbard finished ninth at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge.
