Draftkings FedEx St. Jude Championship First Round Picks 8/7/25
2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship
August 7, 2025 8:00 am EDT
This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship will be played.
The 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship will be played at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. This golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,243 yards.
Hideki Matsuyama won the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship with a cumulative four round score of 17 under par.
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Draftkings First Round Picks
Xander Schauffele $10,800
The 2024 PGA Championship winner arrives at this week’s FedEx Cup playoff event in rather good form. Let me be more specific. Schauffele has amassed three top 12 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a seventh-place result at the 2025 Open Championship three weeks ago.
Additionally, Schauffele finished second at the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Matt Fitzpatrick $9,500
Matt Fitzpatrick arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of four consecutive top eight finishes on the PGA Tour, including an eighth-place result at the 2025 Rocket Classic six weeks ago.
Due to Matt Fitzpatrick’s quality finish at the 2025 Rocket Classic, I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to determine how Fitzpatrick fared relative to the field.
Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 Rocket Classic, in relation to the field, Matt Fitzpatrick ranked 20th in driving distance (315.2), sixth in GIR (greens in regulation-83.3%), 17th in driving accuracy (73.2%) and second in bogey avoidance (3).
What did we learn from the data just presented? Clearly, Matt Fitzpatrick is playing outstanding golf. With that said, I fully expect that trend to continue at this week’s 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Robert Macintyre $7,900
Robert Macintyre has compiled three top 17 finishes in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive second-place finish at the 2025 U.S. Open in June.
Macintyre has played well at the TPC Southwind in the past. Macintyre finished seventh at the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Denny McCarthy $7,700
The talented American has tallied three top 12 finishes in his last five tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an 11th place result at last week’s 2025 Wyndham Championship. McCarthy finished ninth at the 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship (Draftkings price noted): Scottie Scheffler $13,500: Aaron Rai $8,100: Ludvig Aberg $9,300: Wyndham Clark $7,800: Patrick Rodgers $6,500.
