2025 Genesis Invitational
February 15, 2025 10:00 am EDT
This Saturday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the third round of the 2025 Genesis Invitational. Let’s take a look at the third round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the third round of the 2025 Genesis Invitational will be played.
The 2025 Genesis Invitational will be played at Torrey Pines (South Course) in San Diego, California. The golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,765 yards.
*The Genesis Invitational is traditionally played at the Riveria Country Club. However, due to the recent Los Angeles wildfires the 2025 Genesis Invitational was moved to Torrey Pines.
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my DraftKings player selections for the third round of the 2025 Genesis Invitational.
2025 Genesis Invitational Third Round Picks
Scottie Scheffler $12,400
Scottie Scheffler arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of three consecutive top 25 finishes, including a win at the 2025 Hero World Challenge in December.
Scheffler also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Scheffler is currently ranked fourth in strokes gained approach (1.159), tenth in putting average (1.660), second in par four scoring average (3.81) and 12th in overall scoring average (68.50) on the PGA Tour.
Rory McIlroy $11,500
Since the beginning of September, Rory McIlroy has played nine tournaments (PGA and DP World Tours combined). In those nine events just mentioned, McIlroy amassed a rather impressive eight top 11 finishes, including a win at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am two weeks ago.
Due to Rory McIlroy’s quality finish at the 2025 Pebble Beach Pro-Am I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to determine how McIlroy fared relative to the field.
Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, in relation to the field, Rory McIlroy ranked first in driving distance (336.7), 19th in GIR (greens in regulation-70.8%), 15th in putting average (1.627), sixth in bogey avoidance (5) and first in total eagles made (3).
Upon the completion of this afternoon’s second round of play at the 2025 Genesis Invitational, Rory McIlroy is currently in solo fourth place with a score of five under par.
Ludvig Aberg $9,500
Last month, Ludvig Aberg fired a final round 64 at the 2025 Sentry on his way to an impressive fifth place finish. I fully expect Aberg to continue his outstanding play in tomorrow’s third round of the 2025 Genesis Invitational.
Wyndham Clark $7,600
The talented American has compiled two top 16 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 16th place result at last week’s 2025 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Additional golfers I like to perform well in tomorrow’s third round (Draftkings price noted): Davis Thompson $7,500: Denny McCarthy $7,900: Seamus Power $7,300: Patrick Rodgers $7,200: Nick Dunlap $6,400
