March 27, 2025 8:20 am EDT

This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open will be played.

The 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open will be played at the Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas. This golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,475 yards.

*This will be the sixth consecutive year that the Texas Children’s Houston Open has been played at the Memorial Park Golf Course.

Stephan Jaeger won the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open with a four round cumulative score of 12 under par.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.

For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2025 Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Texas Children’s Houston Open First Round Picks

Michael Kim $8,600

Since the beginning of February, Micheal Kim has played seven events on the PGA Tour. In those seven tournaments just mentioned, Kim tallied six top 28 finishes, including an impressive second-place result at the 2025 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Due to Michael Kim’s quality result at the 2025 Waste Management Phoenix Open I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to determine how Kim fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 Waste Management Phoenix Open, in relation to the field, Michael Kim ranked 17th in putting average (1.732), 20th in driving accuracy (58.9%), fourth in GIR (greens in regulation-77.8%) and first in bogey avoidance (1).

Jacob Bridgeman $8,500

Jacob Bridgeman has amassed three top 15 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at last week’s 2025 Valspar Championship.

Jake Knapp $7,900

The talented American has compiled four top 25 finishes in his last five tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive 12th place result at the 2025 Players Championship two weeks ago.

Jake Knapp certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Let me be more specific. Knapp is currently ranked 13th in first round scoring average (68.8), 11th in strokes gained putting (0.602) and 19th in par four birdie or better percentage (20.74%) on the PGA Tour.

It is noteworthy that Jake fired a first round 59 at the 2025 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches four weeks ago. It was only the 14th time in the history of the PGA Tour that a score of 59 or less has been posted by a golfer in a single round.

In my view, Jake Knapp’s low Draftkings price of only $7,900 presents the best fantasy value on this PGA Tour Draftkings first round showdown slate.

Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 Valspar Championship (Draftkings price noted): Rory McIlroy $11,900: Aaron Rai $10,000: Davis Thompson $9,400: Tony Finau $9,300: Steven Fisk $7,200: Mackenzie Hughes $7,500.
