Washington Nationals vs. Seattle Mariners
May 29, 2025 9:40 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an interleague matchup featuring the Washington Nationals and the Seattle Mariners. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Washington Nationals vs. Seattle Mariners game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Nationals vs. Mariners matchup.

Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks

Captain-MacKenzie Gore, Starting Pitcher, Washington Nationals $12,400

On Friday night, Major League Baseball presents the final game of a three-game interleague series featuring the Washington Nationals and the Seattle Mariners.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s MLB game? The Washington Nationals arrive at the third game of this three-game series with the Seattle Mariners playing below average baseball. The Nationals have lost three of the team’s last five games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 4-0 shutout loss to the San Francisco Giants last week.

Similar to the Washington Nationals, the Seattle Mariners are not play well entering tonight’s interleague contest. More specifically, the Mariners have lost four of the team’s last six games played this season, including a 5-3 loss to the Houston Astros four days ago.

Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to this evening’s game. Starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore has been a standout contributor for the Washington Nationals starting rotation this season. Having stated that, how has the veteran pitcher performed from a data perspective? Let’s review Gore’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In 12 starts made this season, Washington Nationals starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore amassed a 2-5 (won-loss record), a 3.47 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.25 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched). It should also be mentioned that Gore has compiled 93 strikeouts while allowing 21 walks in 62.1 innings pitched this season.

More recently, in the Washington Nationals 4-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds earlier this month, Washington starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore certainly pitched at a high level. Gore pitched five quality innings while scattering four hits and four walks in the Nationals defeat of the Cincinnati Reds.

In my opinion, MacKenzie Gore is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in tonight’s interleague game. With that said, I am backing Washington Nationals starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB regular season game (Draftkings price noted): Emerson Hancock, Starting Pitcher (Seattle Mariners) $10,000: James Wood, Outfielder (Washington Nationals) $9,600: Jose Tena, Second Baseman (Washington Nationals) $3,800.
