Draftkings picks for the first round of the 2025 Players Championship.

March 13, 2025 7:40 am EDT

This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 Players Championship. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 Players Championship will be played.

The 2025 Players Championship will be played at TPC Sawgrass (Stadium Course) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,352 yards.

Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 Players Championship with a cumulative four round score of 20 under par.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.

For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2025 Players Championship.

2025 Players Championship First Round Picks

Sepp Straka $8,800

Sepp Straka has accumulated five top 15 finishes in his last six events played on the PGA Tour, including a win at the 2025 American Express earlier this year.

Due to Sepp Straka’s impressive win at the 2025 American Express I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to determine how Straka fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 American Express, in relation to the field, Sepp Straka ranked first in GIR (greens in regulation-83.3%), ninth in driving accuracy (73.2%), ninth in putting average (1.583), first in total birdies made (28), and second in bogey avoidance (2).

Additionally, Straka has posted a quality result at TPC Sawgrass in the past. Straka finished 16th at the 2024 Players Championship.

Jason Day $8,100

The 2015 PGA Championship winner has compiled three top 13 finishes in his five three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at the 2025 American Express.

Jason Day also checks the box for me when it comes to previous course/event history. Since 2013, Day has amassed five top 19 finishes at the week’s event, including a win at the 2016 Players Championship.

In summary, I fully expect Jason Day to continue his outstanding play in Thursday’s first round of the 2025 Players Championship.

Laurie Canter $7,000

The talented Englishman has tallied three top three finishes in his last four events played on the DP World Tour, including a win at the 2025 Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship six weeks ago.

In my view, Laurie Canter’s low Draftkings price of only $7,000 presents the best fantasy value of any golfer on this first round showdown slate.

Jacob Bridgeman $6,500

Jacob Bridgeman has amassed two top 15 finishes in his last three events played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the 2025 Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches two weeks ago.

Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 Players Championship (Draftkings price noted): Scottie Scheffler $12,500: Ludvig Aberg $10,000: Daniel Berger $9,100: Jordan Spieth $8,600: Jason Day $8,100: Keegan Bradley $7,700.
