Draftkings RBC Canadian Open First Round Picks 6/5/25

2025 RBC Canadian Open
June 5, 2025 6:45 am EDT

This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 RBC Canadian Open. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 RBC Canadian Open will be played.

The 2025 RBC Canadian Open will be played at TPC Toronto at Osprey Village (North Course). The golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,389 yards.

*Robert MacIntyre won the 2024 RBC Canadian Open with a four round cumulative score of 16 under par.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.

For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.

Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 RBC Canadian Open.

Draftkings First Round Picks

Ludvig Aberg $10,200

Ludvig Aberg has compiled two top 16 finishes in his last five tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive seventh-place result at the 2025 Masters Tournament in April. Additionally, Aberg finished 25th at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open.

Taylor Pendrith $9,600

The talented Canadian arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top 12 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a fifth-place result at the 2025 PGA Championship three weeks ago.

Pendrith is currently ranked fourth in strokes gained off the tee (0.671), sixth in GIR (greens in regulation-69.87%) and 18th in par five scoring average (4.53) on the PGA Tour.

Taylor Pendrith finished 21st at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open.

Shane Lowry $9,300

Since the beginning of February, Shane Lowry has played ten events on the PGA Tour. In those ten tournaments just mentioned, Lowry has compiled seven top 23 finishes, including an eighth-place result at the 2025 Valspar Championship in March.

Shane Lowry certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Lowry is currently ranked third in strokes gained approach (0.895), third in proximity to the hole (34’4), fifth in total strokes gained (1.412), 25th in scrambling (64.5%) and 14th in par three scoring average (2.99) on the PGA Tour.

It is noteworthy that Shane Lowry has played well at this week’s PGA Tour event in the past. More specifically, Lowry finished second at the 2019 RBC Canadian Open.

Chris Gotterup $8,200

Chris Gotterup has amassed three top 18 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at the 2025 Myrtle Beach Classic.

In summary, I fully expect Chris Gotterup to continue his outstanding play in Thursday’s first round of the 2025 RBC Canadian Open.

Ryan Fox $7,900

Last month, Ryan Fox fired a final round 66 at the 2025 Myrtle Beach Classic en route to his first win on the PGA Tour.

Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 RBC Canadian Open (Draftkings price noted): Rory McIlroy $12,100: Sam Burns $9,300: Nick Taylor $9,100: John Keefer $7,700: Gary Woodland $7,700.
