Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
September 30, 2025 6:08 pm EDT
Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an American League playoff matchup featuring the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.
Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.
Here are my Draftkings picks for tomorrow night’s Red Sox vs. Yankees matchup.
Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks
Captain-Garrett Crochet, Starting Pitcher, Boston Red Sox $12,400
On Tuesday night, Major League Baseball presents the opening game of a three-game American League playoff series featuring the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
How are these two teams playing entering tomorrow evening’s MLB playoff game? The Boston Red Sox arrive at the first game of this three-game series with the New York Yankees playing good baseball. The Red Sox have won four of the team’s last six games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 6-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays last week.
Similar to the Red Sox, the New York Yankees arrive at the opening game of this American League playoff series playing quality baseball. More specifically, the Yankees have won eight of the team’s last nine games played this season, including a 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles two days ago.
Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s turn our attention to tomorrow’s MLB playoff game. Starting pitcher Garrett Crochet has been a solid performer for the Boston Red Sox this season. Having stated that, how has the talented hurler performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Crochet’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.
In 32 starts made this season, Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet has compiled a rather impressive 18-5 (won-loss record), a 2.59 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 1.03 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched) which ranks eighth in MLB. It should also be mentioned that Crochet has amassed a massive 255 strikeouts (first in MLB) while allowing only 46 walks in 205.1 innings pitched this season.
Last month, in the Boston Red Sox 11-7 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, Garrett Crochet pitched six quality innings while scattering four hits and three walks. Additionally, Crochet struck out nine Rays batters in the game.
In my view, Garrett Crochet is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in today’s MLB game. With that said, I am backing Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB playoff game (Draftkings price noted): Max Fried, Starting Pitcher (New York Yankees) $11,400: Jarren Duran, Outfielder (Boston Red Sox) $8,000: Aaron Judge, Outfielder (New York Yankees) $8,000.
