Kansas City Royals vs. St. Louis Cardinals
June 4, 2025 7:45 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an interleague matchup featuring the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Kansas City Royals vs. St. Louis Cardinals game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Royals vs. Cardinals matchup.

Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks

Captain-Noah Cameron, Starting Pitcher, Kansas City Royals $11,800

On Wednesday night, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game interleague series featuring the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s MLB game? The St. Louis Cardinals arrive at the second game of this three-game series with the Kansas City Royals playing good baseball. The Cardinals have won six of the team’s last ten games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 2-0 shutout win over the Texas Rangers five days ago.

Conversely, the Kansas City Royals arrive at this evening’s interleague contest playing below average baseball. More specifically, the Royals have lost six of the team’s last ten games played this season, including a 7-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds last week.

Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s contest. Rookie starting pitcher Noah Cameron has certainly been an important part of the Kansas City Royals starting pitching rotation this season. Having stated that, how has Cameron performed from a statistical standpoint in 2025? Let’s review Cameron’s player data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In four starts made in 2025, Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Noah Cameron has compiled a 2-1 (win-loss record), a 1.05 ERA (Earned Run Average) and a 0.82 WHIP (Walks and Hits per Inning Pitched). It should also be mentioned that Cameron has tallied 16 strikeouts while allowing eight walks in 25.2 innings pitched this season.

More recently, in the Minnesota Twins 3-1 win over the Kansas City Royals last month, Royals starting pitcher Noah Cameron pitched exceptionally well. Cameron pitched 6.2 quality innings while scattering six hits and two walks in the Twins victory over the Royals. Additionally, Cameron struck out eight Minnesota batters in the Twins defeat of the Royals.

In my opinion, Noah Cameron is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in today’s MLB regular season game. With that said, I am backing Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Noah Cameron at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like to play well in this MLB regular season game (Draftkings price noted): Mike Mikolas, Starting Pitcher (St. Louis Cardinals) $10,400: Bobby Witt Jr., Shortstop (Kansas City Royals) $9,600: Jac Caglianone, First Baseman (Kansas City Royals) $6,600.
