Draftkings Best Wells Fargo Championship First Round Picks 5/9/24

This Thursday morning, the PGA Tour presents the first round of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship. Let’s take a look at this tournament from a Draftkings perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections, let’s review where the first round of the Wells Fargo Championship will be played.

The 2024 Wells Fargo Championship will be played at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,558 yards.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship.

Draftkings Player Picks

Sahith Theegala $9,300

Sahith Theegala has accumulated three top nine finishes in his last five tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a ninth-place result at the 2024 Players Championship five weeks ago.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Wells Fargo Championship field, in the last 50 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Sahith Theegala ranks 15th in GIR (greens in regulation), fourth in birdie or better percentage, ninth in scrambling, 14th in strokes gained on par fours, and third in strokes gained putting.

Alex Noren $8,500

Alex Noren arrives at this week’s event on the heels of six consecutive top 23 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an 11th place result at the 2024 Texas Children’s Houston Open last month.

Noren also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. In relation to this week’s 2024 Wells Fargo Championship field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Alex Noren ranks first in GIR (greens in regulation), sixth in strokes gained tee to green, 15th in strokes gained off the tee, fourth in strokes gained around the green, and first in bogey avoidance.

Byeong Hun An $8,300

Since the beginning of January, Byeong Hun An has played 12 tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those 12 events just mentioned, An accumulated seven top 21 finishes, including a fourth-place result at last week’s 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Byeong Hun An has posted a quality finish at the Quail Hollow Golf Club in the past. More specifically, An finished eighth at the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship.

Russell Henley $8,200

Russell Henley has accumulated three top 12 finishes in his last six events played on the PGA Tour, including a fourth-place result at the 2024 Valero Texas Open five weeks ago.

Corey Conners $8,000

The talented Canadian has accumulated three top 25 finishes in his last five tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at the 2024 Players Championship.

Corey Conners also checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Conners finished eighth at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship.

Lucas Glover $6,700

Lucas Glover has accumulated three top 25 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including an 11th place result at the 2024 Valspar Championship in March.

Glover also finished eighth at the 2016 Wells Fargo Championship.
