This Thursday, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open. Let’s take a look at the first round of this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections, let’s review where the first round of the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open will be played.

The first round of the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open will be played at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,255 yards.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.

Here are my DraftKings player selections for the first round of the 2024 Shriners Children’s Open.

2024 Shriners Children’s Open Draftkings First Round Picks

Daniel Berger $7,400

Two weeks ago, Daniel Berger fired a final round 67 at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship en route to an eventual seventh place result.

Due to Daniel Berger’s quality finish at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Berger fared relative to the field.

Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2024 Sanderson Farms Championship, in relation to the field, Daniel Berger ranked first in driving accuracy (75%), fifth in strokes gained tee to green (1.871), first in strokes gained off the tee (1.177), and 15th in GIR (greens in regulation-76.4%).

Daniel Berger has posted a quality result at TPC Summerlin in the past. More specifically, Daniel Berger finished 18th at the 2019 Shriners Children’s Open.

Harry Hall $8,700

The talented Englishman has compiled five top 24 finishes in his last eight tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a win at the 2024 ISCO Championship three months ago.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Shriners Children’s Open field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Harry Hall ranks third in birdie or better percentage, second in total Draftkings points scored, and second in strokes gained around the green.

Similar to Daniel Berger, Harry Hall has played well at TPC Summerlin previously. Hall finished eighth at the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open.

Jhonattan Vegas $8,100

Since the beginning of June, Jhonattan Vegas has played eight events on the PGA Tour. In those eight tournaments just mentioned, Vegas compiled five top 27 finishes, including an impressive win at the 2024 3M Open three months ago.

In relation to this week’s 2024 Shriners Children’s Open field, in the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Jhonattan Vegas ranks eighth in GIR (greens in regulation), 13th in birdie or better percentage, sixth in total Draftkings points scored, 20th in strokes gained approach, and seventh in strokes gained tee to green.

For the reasons just noted, I am backing Jhonattan Vegas as a flex play for this PGA Tour Draftkings First Round Showdown contest.

Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round (Draftkings price noted): Seamus Power $9,200: Rickie Fowler $7,500: Stephan Jaeger $9,800: Chandler Phillips $6,900: David Skinns $6,600: Trey Mullinax $6,900.
