2025 Travelers Championship
June 19, 2025 8:00 am EDT
This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 Travelers Championship. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 Travelers Championship will be played.
The 2025 Travelers Championship will be played at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. The golf course is a par 70 that measures 6,835 yards.
*Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 Travelers Championship with a cumulative four round score of 22 under par.
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 Travelers Championship.
Draftkings First Round Picks
Ludvig Aberg $9,500
Ludvig Aberg has compiled two top 16 finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 13th-place result at the 2025 RBC Canadian Open two weeks ago. Additionally, Aberg finished 24th at the 2023 Travelers Championship.
Patrick Cantlay $9,800
Patrick Cantlay has amassed three top 13 finishes in his last six events played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive fourth-place result at the 2025 Truist Championship last month.
Cantlay is currently ranked 15th in strokes gained approach (0.559), fourth in GIR (greens in regulation-70.37%), 11th in strokes gained tee to green (0.954), 14th in birdie or better percentage (23.96%), and 11th in overall strokes gained (1.105) on the PGA Tour.
Cantlay certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Let me be more specific. Since 2018, Patrick Cantlay has played the Travelers Championship seven times. In those seven tournaments just mentioned, Cantlay has tallied an impressive seven top 15 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the 2023 Travelers Championship.
Tommy Fleetwood $8,900
Since the beginning of February, Tommy Fleetwood has played 12 events on the PGA Tour, in those 12 tournaments just noted, Fleetwood has amassed eight top 21 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge four weeks ago.
Fleetwood is currently ranked seventh in overall strokes gained (1.299), ninth in strokes gained tee to green (1.018), 11th in strokes gained approach (0.608), 21st in overall putting average (1.728), eighth in overall scoring average (70.07) and 12th in par four scoring average (3.98) on the PGA Tour.
Additionally, Tommy Fleetwood has played well at TPC River Highlands in the past. Fleetwood finished 15th at the 2024 Travelers Championship.
Bud Cauley $7,200
Bud Cauley has accumulated four top six finishes in his last eight events played on the PGA Tour, including a fifth-place result at the 2025 Valero Texas Open in April. With that said, I fully expect Cauley to continue his outstanding play in Connecticut this week.
Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 Travelers Championship (Draftkings price noted): Scottie Scheffler $13,800: Collin Morikawa $10,000: Viktor Hovland $9,000: Keegan Bradley $8,700: Ben Griffin $8,600: Jason Day $7,200.
