Minnesota Twins vs. Rockies
July 19, 2025 8:10 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents Draftkings baseball fans with an interleague matchup featuring the Minnesota Twins and the Colorado Rockies. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Minnesota Twins vs. Atlanta Braves game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings MLB single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate.

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Twins vs. Rockies matchup.

Draftkings MLB Showdown Picks

Captain-Byron Buxton, Outfielder, Minnesota Twins $10,400

On Saturday night, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game interleague series featuring the Minnesota Twins and the Colorado Rockies.

How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The Minnesota Twins arrive at the second game of this three-game series with the Colorado Rockies playing good baseball. The Twins have won four of the team’s last seven games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 12-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates six days ago.

In direct contrast to the Minnesota Twins, the Colorado Rockies are playing below average baseball entering this evening’s interleague game. More specifically, the Rockies have lost five of the team’s last seven games played this season, including a 10-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox last week.

Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our attention to today’s contest. Veteran outfielder Byron Buxton has been a standout performer for the Minnesota Twins in 2025. Having stated that, how has Buxton performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Buxton’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In the 79 games that Byron Buxton has played for the Minnesota Twins in the 2025 MLB regular season, Buxton has compiled a .289 batting average, 12 home runs (21st in MLB), 33 walks, 56 RBIs (runs batted in), 64 runs scored, a .925 OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging) and a .351 OBP (On-Base Percentage) which ranks 26th in MLB.

More recently, in the Minnesota Twins dominant 12-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this month, Twins outfielder Byron Buxton played exceptionally well. Let me be more specific. In the Twins victory over the Pirates, Buxton amassed five hits (one home run, one double, one triple), three runs scored and two RBIs. It should also be mentioned that in Minnesota’s defeat of the Pirates, Buxton amassed a whopping 39.1 Draftkings points.

In my opinion, Byron Buxton is the most likely player to compile the most Draftkings points in this MLB game. Having stated that, I am rolling with Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton at the captain position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (Draftkings price noted): Zebby Matthews, Starting Pitcher (Minnesota Twins) $10,000: Hunter Goodman, Catcher (Colorado Rockies) $9,800: Ryan Jeffers, Catcher (Minnesota Twins) $9,000: Harrison Bader, Outfielder (Minnesota Twins) $6,800.
