Draftkings U.S. Open First Round Picks 6/12/25

2025 U.S. Open
June 12, 2025 6:45 am EDT

This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 U.S. Open. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s PGA Tour event let’s review where the first round of the 2025 U.S. Open will be played.

The 2025 U.S. Open will be played at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. The golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,372 yards.

*Bryson DeChambeau won the 2024 U.S. Open with a cumulative four round score of six under par.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.

For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.

Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 U.S. Open.

Draftkings First Round Picks

Collin Morikawa $9,400

Collin Morikawa has tallied eight top 20 finishes in his last ten tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.

Collin Morikawa certainly checks the box for me when it comes to previous event/course history. Since 2021, Morikawa has played the U.S. open four times. In those four tournaments just noted, Morikawa amassed four top 14 finishes, including a fifth-place result at the 2022 U.S. Open.

Patrick Cantlay $9,500

Patrick Cantlay has amassed three top 13 finishes in his last eight events played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive fourth-place result at the 2025 Truist Championship last month.

Cantlay is currently ranked tenth in strokes gained approach (0.628), third in GIR (greens in regulation-70.53%), 11th in strokes gained tee to green (0.960), 14th in birdie or better percentage (24.40%), and ninth in overall strokes gained (1.124) on the PGA Tour.

Cantlay finished third at the 2024 U.S. Open.

Taylor Pendrith $7,300

The talented Canadian has compiled two top 12 finishes in his last three events played on the PGA Tour, including a fifth-place result at the 2025 PGA Championship one month ago.

Pendrith is currently ranked fourth in strokes gained off the tee (0.648), seventh in GIR (greens in regulation-70.24%) and 12th in par five scoring average (4.51) on the PGA Tour.

Taylor Pendrith finished 16th at the 2024 U.S. Open.

Sam Burns $7,900

Sam Burns arrives at this week’s prestigious event on the heels of three consecutive top 19 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at last week’s 2025 RBC Canadian Open. Additionally, Burns finished ninth at the 2024 U.S. Open.

Gary Woodland $6,800

Three weeks ago, Gary Woodland fired a final round 66 at the 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge en route to an eventual 11th place finish.

Gary Woodland has played well at this week’s major championship in the past. More specifically, Woodland won the 2019 U.S. Open.

Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 U.S. Open (Draftkings price noted): Scottie Scheffler $14,000: Bryson DeChambeau $11,100: Justin Thomas $9,000: Shane Lowry $8,600: Ben Griffin $8,000: Marc Leishman $6,900.
