November 6, 2025 8:00 am EDT
This Thursday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the first round of the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship. Let’s take a look at the first round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.
Before I discuss my Draftkings first round picks for this week’s event let’s review where the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship will be played.
Where will the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship be played?
The World Wide Technology Championship will be played at El Cardonal at Diamante in Los Cabos, Mexico. The golf course is a par 72 that measures approximately 7,452 yards.
Austin Eckroat won the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship with a cumulative four round score of 24 under par.
Will the World Wide Technology Championship have a traditional cut after two rounds?
The 2025 World Wide Technology Championship will have a field of 120 competitors to start the tournament on Thursday. This event will have a cut after the completion of the first two rounds. The top 65 golfers and ties will make the cut.
*I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.
Here are my DraftKings picks for the first round of the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship.
Draftkings First Round Picks
Thorbjorn Olesen $9,400
Thorbjorn Olesen arrives at this week’s event on the heels of three consecutive top 14 finishes (PGA and DP World Tours combined), including a third place result at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship two weeks ago.
Nicolas Echavarria $8,900
Last month, Nicolas Echavarria fired a final round 67 at the 2025 Baycurrent Classic en route to an eventual ninth place finish. Echavarria also finished sixth at the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship.
Rico Hoey $10,000
Rico Hoey has amassed three top nine finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a second place result at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship two weeks ago.
Due to Rico Hoey’s impressive second place result at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the tournament to see how Hoey fared relative to the field.
Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship, in relation to the field, Rico Hoey ranked 18th in driving distance (334.6), 17th in putts per GIR (1.690), second in total birdies made (25) and ninth in GIR (greens in regulation-80.6%).
Takumi Kanaya $7,800
Takumi Kanaya has tallied four top 23 finishes in his last five events played (PGA and Japan Tours combined), including a win at the 2025 Ana Open six weeks ago.
Sam Ryder $7,600
The talented American has amassed two top 29 finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 20th place result at the 2025 Baycurrent Classic four weeks ago.
Ben Kohles $7,200
Ben Kohles has compiled three top 26 finishes in his last five events played on the PGA Tour, including a 20th place result at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship.
Additional golfers I like to perform well in the first round of the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship (Draftkings price noted): Max McGreevy $7,500: Garrick Higgo $9,500: Justin Lower $7,500.
