St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves
April 22, 2025 7:15 pm EDT

Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for tonight’s St. Louis Cardinals vs. Atlanta Braves matchup.

FanDuel MLB Player Selections

MVP-Matt Olson, First Baseman, Atlanta Braves $9,400

On Tuesday night, Major League Baseball presents the second game of a three-game National League series featuring the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves.

How are these two teams playing entering tonight’s National League game? The Atlanta Braves arrive at the second game of this three-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals playing good baseball. The Braves have won five of the team’s last seven games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins two days ago.

In direct contrast to the Atlanta Braves, the St. Louis Cardinals are currently playing below average baseball entering this evening’s game. More specifically, the Cardinals have lost five of the team’s last six games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 3-0 shutout loss to the New York Mets last week.

Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s contest. Veteran first baseman Matt Olson has been a standout performer for the Atlanta Braves this season. With that said, how has the talented first baseman performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Olson’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In 21 games that Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson has played in the 2025 MLB regular season, Olson has compiled a .240 batting average, 18 hits, seven home runs, 14 walks, 14 RBIs (runs batted in), 19 runs scored and a 37.6% On-Base Percentage.

More recently, in the Atlanta Braves 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins earlier this week, Atlanta first baseman Matt Olson certainly played at a high level. In the Braves victory over the Twins, Olson amassed one hit, one RBI, one run scored, one home run and two walks. It should also be mentioned that in the Braves defeat of the Twins, Olson compiled 25.2 FanDuel points.

In my opinion, Matt Olson’s reasonable FanDuel price of only $9,400 presents the best fantasy value on this MLB DFS slate. Having stated that, I am backing Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Marcell Ozuna, Outfielder (Atlanta Braves) $14,400: Nolan Gorman, Second Baseman (St. Louis Cardinals) $8,400.
