FanDuel MLB DFS Picks: Guardians vs. Royals 7/26/25
Cleveland Guardians vs. Kansas City Royals
July 26, 2025 2:40 pm EDT
Later today, Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with an American League matchup featuring the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Guardians. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.
Before we dive into the Kansas City Royals vs. Cleveland Guardians game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.
FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules
Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.
Here are my FanDuel picks for this afternoon’s Guardians vs. Royals matchup.
FanDuel MLB DFS Picks
MVP-Bobby Witt Jr., Shortstop, Kansas City Royals $13,400
On Saturday afternoon, Major League Baseball presents the opening game of a three-game American League series featuring the Cleveland Guardians and the Kansas City Royals.
How are these two teams playing entering this MLB game? The Kansas City Royals arrive at the first game of this three-game series with the Cleveland Guardians playing good baseball. The Royals have won three of the team’s last four games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including an 7-4 victory over the Miami Marlins last week.
Similar to the Kansas City Royals, the Cleveland Guardians are playing quality baseball entering this afternoon’s game. More specifically, the Guardians have won four of the team’s last five games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 6-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles four days ago.
Now that we have determined how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to today’s contest. Shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. has been a standout performer for the Kansas City Royal this season. Having stated that, how has the veteran shortstop performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Witt Jr.’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.
In the 102 games that shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. has played for the Kansas City Royals this season, Witt Jr. has compiled a .288 batting average (18th in MLB), 14 home runs, 56 RBIs (runs batted in) and 60 runs this season. Witt Jr. has also showcased his speed with 27 stolen bases in 2025.
More recently, in the Kansas City Royals 9-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers last month, Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. played exceptionally well. In the Royals victory over the Dodgers, Witt Jr. compiled four hits (one double), three runs scored and two RBIs. It should also be mentioned that in the Royals defeat of Los Angeles, Witt Jr. tallied a massive 24.6 FanDuel points.
In my opinion, Bobby Witt Jr. is the most likely player to post the most FanDuel points in today’s MLB game. With that said, I am backing Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.
Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Jose Ramirez, Third Baseman (Cleveland Guardians) $13,800: Vinnie Pasquantino, First Baseman (Kansas City Royals) $10,600: John Rave, Outfielder (Kansas City Royals) $4,800.
