This week, golf bettors will be presented with the final major championship of the year, the 2023 Open Championship.

Before I dive into my favorite golf bets for the 2023 Open Championship let’s take a look at the golf course the field will play and a few key facts that I feel are relevant to those placing wagers on this week’s event.

The 2023 Open Championship will be played at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club (Hoylake Links) in England. The Hoylake Links golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,383 yards. This seaside golf course features out of bounds on six of the par four holes. Clearly, accuracy off the tee will be paramount to success at this week’s 2023 Open Championship.

Tyrrell Hatton +250

Since the beginning of May, Tyrrell Hatton has played seven events on the PGA Tour, in those seven tournaments just mentioned, Hatton has accumulated an impressive six top 15 finishes, including a sixth place result at last week’s 2023 Genesis Scottish Open. 

Hatton also checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. In the last 24 rounds played on the PGA Tour, in relation to this week’s 2023 Open Championship field, Tyrrell Hatton ranks third in strokes gained putting, 13th in strokes gained tee to green, and seventh in birdie or better percentage.    

I also like the fact that I know Tyrrell Hatton can post a quaility result in an Open Championship because the man has done it before. More specifically, Hatton finished sixth at the 2019 Open Championship.

Viktor Hovland +240

Viktor Hovland has accumulated five top 25 finishes in his last six tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a win at the 2023 Memorial Tournament in June. 

Viktor Hovland also finished fourth at the 2022 Open Championship.
