2023-06-22 07:00:00 EDT
This week, the PGA Tour travels north to the state of Connecticut for the 2023 Travelers Championship.
*The 2023 Travelers Championship will be played at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. TPC River Highlands is a par 70 that measures approximately 6,852 yards.
Before we dive into my favorite tournament prop bets for the 2023 Travelers Championship let’s take a look at the current leaders.in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in this week’s field.
Top Five Golfers In Scoing Average
1. Scottie Scheffler 68.60
2. Jon Rahm 68.73
3. Xander Schauffele 69.32
4. Rory McIlroy 69.36
5. Tyrrell Hatton 69.39
Now that we have established who the current top five golfers in scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite prop bets for the 2023 Travelers Championship!
Top European: Viktor Hovland +235
The talented young Norwegian has accumulated four consecutive top 19 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an impressive win at the 2023 Memorial Tournament three weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Travelers Championship field, in the last 36 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Viktor Hovland ranks fifth in strokes gained tee to green, fifth in strokes gained ball striking, and ninth in birdie or better percentage.
Viktor Hovland also finished 11th at the 2020 Travelers Championship.
Top Asian: C.T. Pan +1200
C.T. Pan arrives at this week’s Travelers Championship on the heels of two consecutive top four finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open two weeks ago.
Full transparency, I am fully aware that I am taking a risk backing C.T. Pan to defeat the multiple talented Asian players in this week’s field (including Tom Kim and Hideki Matsuyama). I think Pan’s probability to win (risk) this prop bet relative to the outstanding win odds +1200 (reward) the public is getting here has me definitely putting my money on Pan to win this wager.
It should also be noted, that C.T. Pan has had prior success at TPC Highlands in the past. More specifically, Pan finished eighth at the 2017 Travelers Championship. In my opinion, it’s worth the stretch to back C.T. Pan to win this prop bet at odds of +1200.
