2023-06-15 07:00:00 EDT
This week, the USGA presents golf fans with the 2023 United States Open.
*The 2023 U.S. Open will be played at the Los Angeles Country Club (North Course) in Los Angeles, California.
Before I discuss my favorite tournament macthup bets for the 2023 United States Open let’s take a look at the top five current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in this week’s field.
Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average
1. Scottie Scheffler 68.75
2. Jon Rahm 68.83
3. Tyrrell Hatton 69.44
4. Xander Schauffele 69.47
5. Patrick Cantlay 69.56
Now that we have determined who the current leaders in scoring average are on the PGA Tour let’s shift our focus to my favorite tournament matchup bets for the 2023 U.S. Open.
Rickie Fowler -120 over Jason Day
Since the beginning of March, Rickie Fowler has played eight events on the PGA Tour. In those eight tournaments just mentioned, Rickie Fowler has accumulated an impressive six top 15 finishes, including a sixth place result at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge three weeks ago.
I also like fact that Rickie Fowler has posted a quality at thifs week’s major championship in the past. More specifically, Fowler finished fifth at the 2017 United States Open.
Max Homa -110 over Cameron Smith
Max Homa has accumulated two top nine finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an eighth place result at the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship last month.
It should aslo be noted that Max Homa has won four PGA Tour events in the state of California.
Matt Kuchar -120 over Andrew Putnam
Last week, Matt Kuchar fired a final round 68 at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open en route to an eventual 20th place finish.
I think the fast and firm conditions that await the field for this week’s major championship will suit Matt Kuchar’s game just fine. Having stated that, I fully expect Kuchar to post a good result at this week’s U.S. Open.
