Now that we have determined who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite tournament matchup bet for this week’s 2023 Valspar Championship.
Brandon Wu -120 over Nick Taylor
The 26 year old American arrives at this week’s Valspar Championship on the heels of two consecutive top 19 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an impressive 14th result at the 2023 Honda Classic three weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Valspar Championship field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Brandon Wu ranks ninth in strokes gained approach, ninth in strokes gained tee to green, and third in birdie or better percentage.
Additionally, I like the fact that Brandon Wu’s opponent (Nick Taylor) in this matchup wager has not been playing good golf lately. More specifically, Nick Taylor has missed the cut in his last two tournaments played on the PGA Tour.
In summary, I am backing Brandon Wu to defeat Nick Taylor in this tournament matchup bet.
