Now that the PGA Tour is on an extended break, the DP World Tour takes center stage with the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Before I discuss my favorite golf bet for this week’s DP World Tour event let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play and the key player statistics that I think are the most vital to a player’s success at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
The Alfred Dunhill Championship will be played at the Leopard Creek Country Club in South Africa. This golf course is a Gary Player design. The track is a par 72 that measures 7,287 yards. The course will present this week’s field with bermuda grass greens. It should also be noted that the Alfred Dunhill Championship has been played at Leopard Creek Country Club for several years.
The key player statistics I will be focusing on for this event are driving distance, strokes gained ball striking, and putts per GIR.

If you are looking for a golfer that fits the narrative of a “course horse” look no further as you have found your man. That man’s name is Charl Schwartzel. Since 2004, Schwartzel has played the Alfred Dunhill Championship 14 times. In those 14 events just noted, Schwartzel has accumulated an impressive ten top four finishes, including four wins (2004, 2012, 2013, 2015).
Schwartzel also checks the box for me when it comes to current form. Schwartzel has accumulated two consecutive top nine finishes, including a ninth place result at the South African Open last week.
In summary, I am backing Charl Schwartzel to top five at odds of +425.
