This week, the PGA Tour travels to Illinois, for the second FedEx Cup playoff event, the 2023 BMW Championship.

The 2023 BMW Championship will be played at Olympia Fields Country Club. The golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,336 yards. It should be noted that Olympia Fields Country Club last hosted the BMW Championship in 2020. 

Before I dive into my favorite prop bets for this week’s 2023 BMW Championship let’s take a look at the current top five golfers in the FedExCup playoffs (with that player’s current FedEx playoff points noted) as we approach the start of the second event of the playoffs.

Now that we have determined the current top five golfers in the official FedEx Cup standings are (in this week’s field) let’s shift our focus to my favorite prop bets for the 2023 BMW Championship.

Rory McIlroy +150

Since the beginning of March, Rory McIlroy has played 12 tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those 12 events just noted, Rory McIlroy has accumulated an impressive nine top nine finishes, including a win at the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open four weeks ago.

In my opinion, Rory McIlroy is clearly one of the top five golfers in the world. Furthermore, McIlroy has historically played his best golf of the season during the FedEx Cup playoffs throughout the course of his illustrious career on the PGA Tour.

For the reasons just presented, I am backing Rory McIlroy to post a top five finish at odds of +150.

Tommy Fleetwood +175

Tommy Fleetwood arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event in rather good form. More specifically, Fleetwood has accumulated three consecutive top ten finishes, including a third place result at the 2023 Fedex St. Jude Championship. 

In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 BMW Championship field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tommy Fleetwood ranks second in strokes gained off the tee, third in strokes gained putting, seventh in strokes gained tee to green, and fourth in strokes gained ball striking.

I think Fleetwood’s game will continue trending in a positive direction this week. In summary, I am backing Tommy Fleetwood to post a top ten finish at odds of +175.
