2023 Masters Tournament
April 6, 2023 7:00 am EDT

This Thursday morning, the first round of the 2023 Masters Tournament will begin!

Before I discuss my favorite longshot golf bet for the 2023 Masters Tournament, let’s take a look at the betting odds of past champions of this event to see if we can find any historical trends.

Here is a list of the last five winners of the Masters including that golfer’s opening odds the year that individual won the event and the score that player posted to win:

2022 Scottie Scheffler +1600 (-10)

2021 Hideki Matsuyama +4500 (-10)

2020 Dustin Johnson +900 (-20)

2019 Tiger Woods +1600 (-13)

2018 Patrick Reed +5500 (-15)

Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite longshot player selection for the 2023 Masters Tournament.

Here is a golfer to consider placing on your card to finish in the top five.

Corey Conners +900

Last week, Corey Conners fired a first round 64 at the Valero Texas Open on his way to an eventual victory.

Due to the fact that Conners won last week’s 2023 Valero Texas Open, I decided to take a hard look at Conner’s player statistics for the event relative to the field.

After four rounds of competitive golf played at the 2023 Valero Texas Open, relative to the field, Corey Conners ranked sixth in GIR (greens in regulation-80%), first in strokes gained approach (9.538), and third in driving accuracy (73.7%).

It should also be noted that Corey Conners finished sixth at the 2022 Masters Tournament.
