Shriners Children's Open
2023-10-12 07:00:00 EDT

This week, the PGA Tour travels to Las Vegas for the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open.

Before I discuss my favorite golf bets for the Shriners Children’s Open let’s take a quick look at the course the field will play and the key player statistics that I feel are the most vital to a golfer’s success this week.

The Shriners Children’s Open will be played at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,255 yards. I think it’s important to note that TPC Summerlin is 2,700 feet above sea level. Having stated that you can expect the golf ball to travel further than normal due to the altitude. Additionally, this track will present this week’s field with bentgrass greens.

TPC Summerlin has hosted the Shriners Children’s Open annually since 2008.

The key player statistics that I will be focusing on this week are the following: strokes gained ball striking, driving accuracy, bogey avoidance, and birdie or better percentage.

Now let’s shift our focus to my favorite golf bets for the 2023 Shriners Children’s Open.

Here are two golfers to consider placing on your card to finish in the top ten.

Tom Hoge +360

Tom Hoge arrives at this week’s event on the heels of two consecutive top 21 finishes on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at last week’s Sanderson Farms Championship.

In relation to this week’s Shriners Children’s Open field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tom Hoge ranks third in birdie or better percentage and eighth in strokes gained approach.

Tom Hoge also finished fourth at the 2022 Shriners Children Open.

Andrew Putnam +380

Andrew Putnam has accumulated three top 27 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive tenth place result at the 2023 BMW Championship in August.

I also like the fact that Andrew Putnam has posted quality results at TPC Summerlin multiple times previously. Since 2019, Andrew Putnam has played the Shriners Children’s Open four times. In those four events just noted, Andrew Putnam has accmulated three top 18 finishes, including an 11th place result at the 2020 Shriners Children’s Open.

In summary, I am backing Andrew Putnam to post a top ten finish at odds of +380.
