This week, the PGA Tour presents golf fans with the 2023 Sony Open.
Before I discuss my favorite tournament matchup bet for the 2023 Sony Open let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in this week’s field.
Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average

- Brian Harman 69.44
- Andrew Putnam 69.74

Now that we have established who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite tournament matchup bet for this week’s 2023 Sony Open.
Kyoung-Hoon Lee -125 over Mackenzie Hughes
Last week, Kyoung-Hoon Lee fired a final round 67 at last week’s Sentry Tournament Of Champions on his way to an eventual seventh-place finish.
In relation to this week’s current listed Sony Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Kyoung-Hoon Lee ranks first in GIR (greens in regulation), 11th in birdie or better percentage, eighth in strokes gained approach, and second in strokes gained tee to green.
It should also be noted that Lee finished 19th at the 2021 Sony Open.
In summary, I am backing Kyoung-Hoon Lee to defeat Mackenzie Hughes at this week’s 2023 Sony Open.
