This Thursday morning, the first round of the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship will begin.
Before I discuss my favorite tournament matchup bet for the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship let’s take a look at the current leaders in scoring average on the PGA Tour that are in this week’s field.
Top Five Golfers in Scoring Average
- Tony Finau 69.51
- Patrick Cantlay 69.69
- Jason Day 69.71
- Xander Schauffele 69.74
- Akshay Bhatia 69.91
Now that we have determined who the top five golfers with regard to scoring average are on the PGA Tour (in this week’s field) let’s shift our attention to my favorite tournament matchup bet for this week’s 2023 Wells Fargo Championship.
Gary Woodland -115 over Taylor Moore
Gary Woodland fired a first round 68 at the 2023 Masters Tournament on his way to an eventual 14th place finish.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Wells Fargo Championship field, in the last 50 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Gary Woodland ranks sixth in strokes gained ball striking, sixth in strokes gained off the tee, and second in GIR (greens in regulation)
It should also be noted that Woodland finished fifth at the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship.
In summary, I am backing Gary Woodland to defeat Taylor Moore at odds of -115.
