The suddenly hot Atlanta Braves look to keep rolling against the visiting Colorado Rockies.
Colorado has been in a slow fade mode for quite a while and facing the suddenly hot Braves hasn't been the ideal situation. The Rockies are still well within reach of the Dodgers in the National League West, but right now the first order of business is to get a few wins under their belt. Following a 9-0 defeat to the Braves Thursday, Colorado has dropped seven of eleven. I wasn't surprised by the loss, but I was surprised that Tyler Chatwood was hit hard for eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits over just 2.1 innings. The offense provided no support on five hits and didn't challenge. The Rockies will be sending rookie right hander Chad Bettis to the mound Thursday to face the hot hitting Braves. Colorado is looking for a fifth starter and Bettis will get his opportunity in his debut.

For those of us that have been wondering if Atlanta would ever get their act together and string together some wins, the time might be at hand. The Braves put every thing together Thursday against Colorado and in the process logged their 6th victory in a row that has given them a bit of breathing room in the National League East. Starter Mike Minor was at his very best with two hits and no walks over seven scoreless frames, while whiffing six to pick up the victory. The Atlanta bats pounded out 15 hits and walked twice, with Brian McCann hammering a three run homer, while Freddie Freeman knocked in two more. Atlanta is hoping Julio Teheran remains in top form when he faces Colorado Thursday. Teheran has allowed only one run in a pair of no decisions although Atlanta has won both games.
I don't want to write off the Rockies, but betting against Atlanta right now might not be wise. However, the big odds doesn't make this a walk in the park although every thing is clicking now...
