The Detroit Tigers visit Camden Yards to face the Baltimore Orioles in their ALDS opener.
The Detroit Tigers have been a fixture in the postseason as in the American League Central champions although the division wasn't locked up untill the final day of the regular season. Not much has changed from an offensive standpoint with a league leading .277 batting average. Victor Martinez led the team at .335 and mashed a team best 32 homers. While this squad could score, so could opponents with the pitching checking in with a 4.01 ERA which was #24 in the league. The Tigers had even bigger issues in the bullpen as no lead seemed safe. Max Scherzer carries consecutive victories in to the ALDS opener versus the Baltimore Orioles. Scherzer has had another outstanding season with an 18-5 record with a 3.15 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles have been improving over the past few years as the team has slowly gotten better at the plate and on the mound. The Orioles have shown flashes the last few years and finally broke through in 2014 as they were red hot over the second half of the season and manhandled the American League East. Although the O's hit .256 as a team they were the top power hitting team in the game with 211 bombs. The Birds had the arms as well with a team ERA of 3.44 although many experts don't believe the Orioles have the shutdown pitching necessary to win in the postseason. The Orioles open the ALDS with Chris Tillman on the mound versus the dangerous Detroit Tigers. Tillman is one of those guys that wins whether he throws well or not as the bats sometimes bail him out.
The Tigers with Scherzer on the mound are not a pleasant thought for opponents but I don't think Baltimore is afaid of any team right now...
