KIA Tigers vs. SK Wyverns – 8/28/20 KBO Baseball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-08-28 05:30:00 EDT

The SK Wyverns and KIA Tigers meet Friday morning in South Korea KBO baseball action at the Incheon SK Happy Dream Stadium.

The SK Wyverns need a win here after losing 30 of their last 48 games. The SK Wyverns pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 20 of their last 50 games. In their last effort, Kim Kang-min and Choi Jeong combined for four hits and seven RBI while Moon Seung-won allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings of work. The SK Wyverns have lost 42 of their last 63 games overall. Ricardo Pinto gets the ball tonight for the SK Wyverns.

The KIA Tigers need a victory after losing 14 of their last 24 games. The KIA Tigers pitching staff has allowed four or less runs in 30 of their last 57 games. In their last effort, Preston Tucker and Hwang Yoon-ho combined for two hits and three RBI while Im Ki-young allowed four runs and nine hits in 5.2 innings of work. The KIA Tigers have won 32 of their last 60 games overall. Yang Hyun-jong gets the ball tonight for the KIA Tigers.

The KIA Tigers have won nine of the last 13 meetings against the SK Wyverns. Five of the last nine meetings between the Tigers and Wyverns have produced double-digit run totals.

Ricardo Pinto has a 6.17 ERA and 1.93 WHIP this season through 100.2 innings, and he’s allowed three or more earned runs in each of his last seven starts. Yang Hyun-jong has a 5.21 ERA and 1.45 WHIP this season through 102 innings, and he’s allowed a combined three earned runs and 10 hits in his last 12.1 innings. The KIA Tigers have the edge on the mound in this matchup with Hyun-jong being improved as of late, but neither of these pitchers have been great this season and they get crushed far more than not. We’ve also seen double-digit run totals in five of the last nine meetings between these two clubs.

Instead of being letdown by one of these pitchers, I’ll predict more fireworks and back the over 10 runs.
