Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners – 8/29/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels meet Saturday in MLB action at Angel Stadium. 

The Seattle Mariners look for a win after winning five of their last seven games. The Mariners have scored 17 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last nine games. The Mariners have won six of their last seven games when scoring four or more runs. Kyle Lewis leads the Mariners with 42 hits and 20 RBI while Kyle Seager and JR Crawford have combined for 64 hits and 35 RBI. Justus Sheffield gets the ball, and he is 2-2 with a 3.51 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. This will be Sheffield’s second career game against the Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels look for a win after splitting their last six games. The Angels have scored 18 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last eight games. The Angels have lost six of their last nine games when scoring four or more runs. David Fletcher leads the Angels with 43 hits and 13 RBI while Anthony Rendon and Mike Trout have combined for 61 hits and 43 RBI. Griffin Canning gets the ball, and he is 0-3 with a 4.88 ERA and 23 strikeouts this season. This will be Canning’s second career game against the Mariners.

Justus Sheffield has allowed six earned runs and 20 hits in his last 22 innings while Griffin Canning has allowed 12 earned runs and 27 hits in his last 23 innings. The Seattle Mariners are playing the better baseball, and they have a decent pitching advantage with Sheffield on the mound, somebody who is allowing a .240 batting average on the season and averaging nearly a strikeout per inning. The Los Angeles Angels are a talented team, but I’ve had trouble backing them all year due to their inconsistent play and the fact they lose a ton of games despite the offense showing up. I just don’t trust the Angels much.
