Miami Marlins vs. Tampa Bay Rays – 8/30/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-08-30 13:10:00 EDT

The Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins meet Sunday in MLB action at Marlins Park.

The Tampa Bay Rays look to stay hot after winning 17 of their last 20 games. The Rays have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last six games. The Rays have won 14 of their last 17 games when scoring four or more runs. Yandy Diaz leads the Rays with 33 hits and 11 RBI while Brandon Lowe and Willy Adames have combined for 61 hits and 37 RBI. Blake Snell gets the ball, and he is 2-0 with a 3.04 ERA and 32 strikeouts this season. This will be Snell’s second career game against the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins need a win to snap a three-game losing streak. The Marlins have scored four runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last 10 games. The Marlins have lost eight of their last 10 games when scoring three or less runs. Jonathan Villar leads the Marlins with 29 hits and nine RBI while Jesus Aguilar and Corey Dickerson have combined for 48 hits and 28 RBI. Sandy Alcantara gets the ball, and he is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. This will be Alcantara’s first career game against the Rays.

Will update with trends once they’re released.

Blake Snell has allowed five runs and 12 hits in his last 15.2 innings, and he has 23 strikeouts and five walks during that span. Sandy Alcantara has allowed one earned run and three hits in 6.2 innings this season, and he’ll pitch for the first time in over a month after being sidelined due to COVID. This is a hell of a pitching matchup and you have to figure the Rays will be favored based on what they’ve done over their last 20 games. However, Alcantara is another one of those young Marlins pitchers with nasty stuff and somebody you should be looking to back in favorable prices.

I’ll side with the Marlins in this game with their young ace on the hill.
