Chicago White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins – 9/14/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-14 20:10:00 EDT

The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet Monday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field.

This will be the first installment of a four-game series between these teams this week. The Twins are coming out of a weekend set versus the Indians, winning the first two games 3-1 and 8-4. In the Sunday finale, Minnesota was able to power out a 7-5 win and complete the sweep. As for the White Sox, they just played the Tigers. Chicago took wins 4-3 and 14-0 in the first two games there. In the Sunday game, the Sox swept their set as well with a 5-2 win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks and MLB predictions at Sports Chat Place.

The Twins were out-hit 13-7 by the Indians on Sunday, but made their hits count. Gonzalez, Cruz, Jeffers and Donaldson each had home runs in that game. Starting pitcher Michael Pineda went 4.2 innings with eight hits and three earned runs.

For the Monday starting pitcher role, the Twins will send out Jose Berrios. This season in nine starts, Berrios is 4-3 with a 4.40 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 47.0 innings. Over his MLB career, Berrios is 47-37 with a 4.22 ERA and 640 Ks in 643.0 innings of work.

Over on the White Sox’ side, they reached 30 wins on the season with their victory Sunday, and out-hit Detroit 11-6. Eloy Jimenez posted a homer, two RBI and two hits there, and Juan Moncada added three hits with an RBI of his own.

For Monday’s starter outing, the White Sox will send out Dylan Cease. In his nine starts this year, Cease has a 5-2 mark with a 3.33 ERA and 30 Ks in 46.0 innings. Cease is a 4.84 pitcher in his MLB career, with a 9-9 record and 111 strikeouts in 119.0 frames total.

The Twins are 5-1 in their last six Monday games and 45-20 in their last 65 games as a favorite. Minnesota is 47-22 in their last 69 during game one of a series and the under is 18-6-2 in their last 26 Monday games.

Meanwhile, the White Sox are 7-1 in their last eight during game one of a series and 20-6 in their last 26 versus the American League Central. The under is 3-1-1 in Chicago’s last five Monday games and 9-4-1 in their last 14 during game one of a series.

Pick: I’m going Twins here, but this is a pretty interesting matchup to start the series. Berrios was pretty sketchy when the season began, but he’s settled in with a .183/.272/.280 slash line in his last four starts. Over those 22.2 innings, Berrios has 31 strikeouts to his credit. As for Cease, he’s 0-2 with a 16.71 ERA in two starts versus the Twins, but has allowed five earned runs in 10 innings this month. I like Berrios to win the starter battle in this game and put Minnesota in a good position for a win.
