Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins – 9/23/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-23 19:10:00 EDT

The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves meet in MLB action from Truist Park on Wednesday night.

The Miami Marlins will look to rebound from an 11-1 loss to the Braves on Tuesday. Starling Marte went 2 for 4 with the lone RBI for Miami coming on a solo home run. Corey Dickerson went 3 for 4 at the dish while Jesus Aguilar went 2 for 3 and Jon Berti, Matt Joyce and Garrett Cooper all had base hits as well to finish off the offense for Miami in defeat. Jose Urena took the loss, falling to 0-3 on the year after allowing four runs on six hits while striking out three over six innings of work. Sixto Sanchez will start here and is 3-2 with a 2.75 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. This will be Sanchez’s second career start against Atlanta in his career.

The Atlanta Braves will look to build off of their dominant performance from Tuesday. Marcell Ozuna led the charge, going 4 for 5 with a pair of home runs, a double and five RBIs. Freddie freeman had a home run, a double and two RBIs while Dansby Swanson and Ozzie Albies each had a solo home run and Austin Riley added an RBI as well. Ronald Acuna Jr. had a double and Adam Duvall added a base hit of his own to finish off Atlanta’s offense as a team in the win. Bryse Wilson got the win to improve to 1-0 after thiteming five shutout innings, giving up just three hits while striking out seven. Max Fried will start here and is 7-0 with a 1.96 ERA and 50 strikeouts this season. In his career, Fried is 0-1 with a 4.63 ERA and 31 strikeouts against Miami.

Miami is 4-11 in their last 15 games against a left-handed starter and 45-92 in their last 137 road games while the over is 19-9-1 in their last 29 games within the division. Atlanta is 36-16 in their last 52 home games while the over is 9-2-4 in their last 15 games following a win. Miami is 17-42 in the last 59 meetings between these two teams.

I’ve gone back and forth on this game but I think that Fried’s injury problems may come back to bite the Braves here as Sanchez is a strong starts for Miami this season and I just think that with Sanchez’s lone start against Atlanta being a seven-inning masterpiece while Fried has had his ups and downs lately but he’s still a quality arm in that Braves’ rotation. I think there’s too much value on Sixto and the Fish here, so I’ll take Miami as my pick for this one. However my stronger play is on the side and I have that available as a premium pick that you can find here.
