Toronto Blue Jays vs. Baltimore Orioles – 9/26/20 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

2020-09-26 18:37:00 EDT

The Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays meet in an AL East division matchup in MLB action from Sahlen Field on Saturday.

The Baltimore Orioles come into this one looking to bounce back from a 10-5 loss to the Jays on Friday. Cedric Mullins had a home run and two RBIs while Ramon Urias and Jose Iglesias each had a solo home run and Hanser Alberto went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI to finish off the scoring for Baltimore in defeat. Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 3 at the dish while Chance Sisco added a base hit as well in the loss for Baltimore. Jorge Lopez allowed eight runs on nine hits ove two innings of work, taking the loss to fall to 2-2 on the year. John Means will start here and is 2-3 with a 5.02 ERA and 33 strikeouts this season. In his career, Means is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts against Toronto.

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to build on their win over the Orioles on Friday. Travis Shaw led the way, going 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs while Teoscar Hernandez and Jonathan Villar each had two RBIs as well in defeat. Randal Grichuk had a solo home run while Danny Jansen, Jonathan Davis and Bo Bichette all added RBIs as well to help the Jays in the winning effort. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2 for 4 at the plate while Joe Panik added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for the Blue Jays in the victory. Taijuan Walker threw three shutout innings striking out four, not factoring in the decision. Nate Pearson got the win in relief to improve to 1-0 on the year. Matt Shoemaker will start here and is 0-1 with a 4.71 ERA and 36 strikeouts this season. In his career, Shoemaker is 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 41 strikeouts against Baltimore.

Baltimore is 61-144 in their last 205 games and 28-67 in their last 95 games within the division while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Toronto is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 16-7 in their last 23 games following a win while the over is 7-1 in their last 8 games within the division. Baltimore is 16-35 in the last 51 meetings between these two teams and the under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams as well.

I get that playoff positioning is pretty much locked up at this point, but these two showed up with offense that didn’t seem like it on Friday, and if we’re being honest, Means and Shoemaker are better pitchers than their numbers would indicate, but for whatever reason, this year, the results just haven’t been there as Means has dropped off considerably after being Baltimore’s best arm last year and Shoemaker’s never really seemed comfortable in a Toronto uniform. I think the offenses rule the day again here, so give me the over in this game.
