The Cleveland Indians and the Chicago White Sox meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Tuesday night.
The Cleveland Indians will look to rebound from a4-3 loss at the hands of the White Sox in their last matchup. Eddie Rosario led the way with a home run and two RBIs while Franmil Reyes had an RBI of his own to cap off the scoring for the Indians in the losing effort. Johs Naylor had a double and Jordan Luplow went 2 for 4 at the dish while Yu Chang added a base hit as well as the Indians cranked out just five hits as a team in the loss. Triston McKenzie gave up three runs on two hits while striking out six over four innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Emmanuel Clase took the loss, falling to 1-1 on the year as a result. Shane Bieber will start here and is 0-1 with a 3.65 ERA and 24 strikeouts this season. In his career, Bieber is 2-2 with a 2.94 ERA and 63 strikeouts against the White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox will look to add to their victory over the Indians from Monday. Adam Eaton led the charge with a three-run home run in the 3rd inning while Yoan Moncada went 2 for 4 at the dish and Luis Robert had a double. Yermin Mercedes added a base hit as well to cap off Chicago’s offense in the win as the White Sox also mustered up five hits as a team in the win. Dallas Keuchel allowed three runs on three hits while striking out a pair over five innings of work. Codi Heuer got the win to improve to improve to 1-0 in relief on the year. Lucas Giolito will start here and is 1-0 with a 4.22 ERA and 18 strikeouts this season. In his career, Giolito is 2-2 with a 2.62 ERA and 49 strikeouts against Cleveland.
Cleveland is 4-1 in their last 5 division games and 60-24 in their last 84 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 games as a road favorite. Chicago is 6-14 in their last 20 games overall and 17-5 in their last 22 home games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games as an underdog. The under is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.
This should be a highly entertaining game between two of the better teams in the AL Central and this could be a matchup to watch come September. However, I feel that while a low line and Shane Bieber is a tempting proposition, the issue is that he’s had his issues at Guaranteed Rate Field and Bieber hasn’t gotten off to a strong start this season and after a Cy Young campaign, I wonder if that’s in his head a bit. Lucas Giolito’s gotten off to a strong start himself and I think while you can’t go wrong with either pitcher at this price, I like the value of the White Sox with a cheap price and Giolito at home.
