The San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers meet Tuesday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. San Francisco is coming off a series versus the Cubs over the weekend. The Giants managed wins in three of four of those games. As for the Rangers, they played the Rays over the weekend. Texas won Friday but lost the other pair in that set. San Francisco posted victories over the Cubs 7-2 Thursday, 8-5 Friday and 4-3 Saturday, but the Sunday game was a 4-3 Giants loss. In that one, San Francisco starting pitcher Johnny Cueto posted 4.1 innings with six hits and three earned runs alongside four Ks.

For the starter job on Tuesday, the Giants are sending out Alex Wood. Over his 51.2 innings of work this year, Wood has 43 hits, 20 earned runs, six homers allowed, 15 walks, 52 strikeouts and a 3.48 ERA.

Over on the Rangers’ side, they posted a 5-4 win over the Rays on Friday but then lost 3-0 Saturday and 7-1 in the Sunday game. Texas’ Dane Dunning lasted 5.0 innings with three hits and no earned in that one.

For the Tuesday starter job, the Rangers are sending out Jordan Lyles. Across 61.0 innings of work this year, Lyles has 72 hits, 39 earned runs, 11 homers allowed, 21 walks, 54 Ks and a 5.75 ERA overall.

The Giants are 5-0 in their last five after an off day and 10-1 in their last 11 road games. San Francisco is 7-2 in their last nine overall and 8-2 in their last 10 in game one of a series.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are 6-1 in the last seven at home versus a lefty starter and 22-45 in their last 67 after a loss. Texas is 17-38 in their last 55 interleague games and 6-20 in the last 26 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Giants. Wood is coming off his worst game of the year, coughing up seven runs with four walks in 3.2 innings versus the Angels on Tuesday. That said, Wood is also 2-0 with a nice 0.86 ERA in three career starts versus the Rangers. As for Lyles, he’s 1-2 over his last six starts with an improved 4.36 ERA. I like Lyles to pitch well here with San Francisco ultimately posting the win.
