The Minnesota Twins and the Seattle Mariners meet Monday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park.  The Twins are coming off a weekend set versus the Astros. Minnesota split the first two games, then on Sunday the Twins took a big 11-run blowout loss. As for the Mariners, they played the Indians over the weekend. Seattle lost the first two games in that set, then on Sunday Seattle banged out a four-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Minnesota fell to the Astros 6-4 on Friday, but managed a victory in the Saturday game 5-2 to even it up. In the Sunday rubber match, the Twins gave up a whopping 20 hits in a 14-3 blowout defeat. Michael Pineda lasted 4.0 innings with three earned on six hits.

For the Monday starting pitcher role, the Twins are sending out Kenta Maeda. Over his 42.2 innings of work this year, Maeda has 52 hits, 30 runs (25 earned), nine homers allowed, 11 walks, 39 Ks and a 5.27 ERA.

Over on the Mariners’ side, they had some issues with the Indians this weekend, falling 7-0 Friday and 5-4 in the Saturday game. On Sunday, Seattle staved off the sweep with a 6-2 victory. Logan Gilbert managed 6.2 innings with four hits and one earned.
For the Monday starting pitcher job, the Mariners will send out Marco Gonzales. Over his 36.1 innings this year, Gonzales has 34 hits, 22 earned runs, eight homers allowed, 13 walks, 31 Ks and a 5.45 ERA.
The Twins are 9-4 in their last 13 Monday games and 4-9 in their last 13 road games versus a team with a losing record. Minnesota is 1-4 in their last five in game one of a series and the over is 16-5-1 in their last 22 in game one of a series.
Meanwhile, the Mariners are 35-17 in their last 52 home games after a road trip of a week or more and 20-7 in their last 27 with the total set at 6.5 or lower. The over is 4-0 in Seattle’s last four at home after a road trip of a week or more and the under is 5-1 in their last six in game one of a series.

PICK: I’m going to stick with the Mariners. Maeda is coming off the 10-day IL to make this start. It’s his first since May 22. Maeda has had issues with groin tightness and arm weakness that have really stifled his potential. He’s given up nine earned over 14.0 innings in his last three starts combined. I’d imagine the Twins will be careful with Maeda here, so I don’t think he’ll be out there for more than four or five innings.
