The Milwaukee Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks meet in MLB action from Chase Field on Wednesday night.

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to build on a 5-0 win over the Diamondbacks last time out. Luis Urias led the charge for the Brew Crew, putting up a pair of RBIs while Christian Yelich and Kolten Wong each had a solo home run and Omar Narvaez added an RBI as well to finish off Milwaukee’s scoring as a team in the win. Willy Adames and Daniel Vogelbach each had a base hit as well in the winning effort for the Brewers. Freddy Peralta got the win to improve to 7-2 on the year after tossing six shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out ten. Brandon Woodruff will start here and is 5-3 with a 1.94 ERA and 102 strikeouts this season. in his career, Woodruff is 1-0 with a 4.80 ERA and 21 strikeouts against Arizona.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to rebound from another shutout loss in their defeat against Milwaukee on Tuesday. Ketel Marte had a double and Pavin Smith added a base hit as well as the D-Backs had just two hits as a team with the rest of Arizona’s lineup batting 0 for 24 with 12 strikeouts in the losing effort. Zac Gallen took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the year after allowing one run on three hits with eight strikeouts over five innings of work. Caleb Smith will start here and is 2-2 with a 3.21 ERA and 61 strikeouts this season. in his career, Smith is 0-4 with a 4.15 ERA and 24 strikeouts against Milwaukee.

Milwaukee is 7-1 in their last 8 games against a left-handed starter and 9-4 in their last 13 road games while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 Wednesday games. Arizona is 11-40 in their last 51 games as an underdog and 1-4 in their last 5 games against the NL Central while the over is 11-2 in their last 13 home games. Milwaukee is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams.

This is a tougher one to call than I would’ve first thought because Woodruff’s been really good, but he was just rocked in Colorado and getting run support has been hard at times for the Brewers’ ace. On the other hand, Caleb Smith has pitched himself back into Arizona’s rotation, but the problem is that he pitches for the Diamondbacks who can’t do much of anything right at the moment. I think the best way to go here is to side with the under and hope that Woodruff and Smith continue their solid from on the year and give us a low-scoring matchup between two anemic offenses.
