The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels meet Wednesday in MLB action from Angel Stadium. This will be the second installment in a quick two-game set between these teams. In the Tuesday opener, the Giants posted a shutout win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Francisco played the Phillies over the weekend, winning two of the three games. In the Tuesday matchup versus LA, the Giants posted four runs in the first inning on the way to a 5-0 win. Anthony DeSclafani managed 7.0 innings with no earned and three hits.
For the Wednesday starting role, the Giants will send out Kevin Gausman. Across 89.2 innings of work this year, Gausman has 50 hits, 17 runs (15 earned), six homers allowed, 19 walks, 103 Ks and a 1.51 ERA.

Over on the Angels’ side, they played the Tigers over the weekend, winning three straight before a Sunday finale loss. On Tuesday, Los Angeles gave up 12 hits in the loss. Andrew Heaney put up 6.0 innings with 10 hits and five earned runs.

For the starter job in the Wednesday game, the Angels will go with Shohei Ohtani. Over 10 starts this year, Ohtani has 53.1 innings, 73 Ks, a 3-1 record and a 2.70 ERA overall.

The Giants are 12-2 in their last 14 road games with the total set at 7.0-8.5 and 9-3 in their last 12 Wednesday games. San Francisco is 13-6 in the last 19 interleague games and the over is 6-2-1 in their last nine in game two of a series.

Meanwhile, the Angels are 5-1 in their last six in game two of a series and 7-20 in their last 27 Wednesday games. The over is 4-0 in LA’s last four in game two of a series and 48-20-2 in their last 70 home games.

PICK: I’m going to go with the Giants. The starter matchup here should be pretty interesting regardless, however. Ohtani has looked solid in June, posting a 2.62 ERA and just three walks in 17 innings this month. As for Gausman, he put up eight innings of two-run ball in his last outing versus Arizona. He’s sporting a great 1.51 ERA, which is the second-lowest in the MLB behind Jacob de Grom. I like Gausman to keep it going in a lower-scoring Giants win here.
