Los Angeles scored four runs in the first inning Monday during the opener, cruising to a 5-1 win. In the Tuesday game, the Dodgers had a 3-2 lead after four innings and never looked back in a 7-2 victory. Corey Knebel opened up with 1.0 innings, two hits and one earned run.
It’s looking like the Dodgers will go with Mitch White in the Wednesday start. This year White has a 1-2 record, a 3.49 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 38.2 innings of work.
Over on the Cardinals’ side, they gave up just five hits in the Monday game, but the big first inning did them in. On Tuesday, St. Louis had eight team hits in the defeat. Starter JA Happ had 5.0 innings with four earned on seven hits.
Starting pitcher for the Wednesday game will be the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright. Across his 176.0 innings this year Wainwright has 139 hits, 59 runs (57 earned), 17 homers allowed, 43 walks, 159 Ks and a 2.91 ERA.

The Dodgers are 6-0 in their last six Wednesday games and 26-10 in their last 36 versus a team with a winning record. LA is 98-45 in their last 143 in game three of a series and 43-20 in their last 63 overall.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 5-2 in their last seven in game three of a series and the over is 9-2 in their last 11 in game three of a series. The over is 5-2 in St. Louis’ last seven Wednesday games as well.
PICK: I’m going to stick with St. Louis. Wainwright has been cruising along well lately, posting two or fewer earned runs in each of his last six outings. Wainwright has given up just five earned over his last half-dozen starts, lasting a span of 43.1 frames. I like Wainwright to keep it going in this one and put up six to seven good innings. If he can do that, the Cardinals should be in great shape for a potential win.
